Description

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is now required for all University of Miami faculty, staff, and students. Duo is an approved University of Miami vendor of MFA services. If you use any University of Miami Single Sign-On (UMSSO)-enabled applications or services, such as Blackboard, CaneID, CaneLink, myUM, and/or Workday, then you will need to know more about MFA.

MFA

What is MFA?:

The goal of MFA is to create a layered defense and make it more difficult for an unauthorized person to access your information. For example, if your CaneID password is stolen, your direct deposit can be sent to another bank account, personal data can be viewed or altered, and the contents of your UM email, OneDrive, Box, and Google Drive accounts are all exposed. You can help safeguard against these threats by enrolling in MFA.

MFA adds a step to the login process and requires you to prove your identity after entering a CaneID and password by responding to a prompt using a mobile device (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone, etc.), landline, tablet, or token.
