Systems Infrastructure

The Systems Infrastructure unit manages server, storage, backup, and data center infrastructures as well as cloud-based infrastructure services.

This unit manages server equipment, virtual server platforms, server operating systems, server-based applications, and applies security updates and patches. This unit manages storage infrastructure services such as Storage Area Network (SAN) for applications and databases, and Network Attached Storage (NAS)/file servers to provide collaborative network file share storage space for data that is not cloud ready. The unit also provides data backup and recovery services through the use of enterprise backup systems, and provides off-site storage of mission critical data backups by means of tape vaulting services provided by vendors such as Iron Mountain.

Additionally, the Systems Infrastructure unit manages off-campus data center/colocation space and campus-based data centers. This unit coordinates support with facilities departments and vendors for HVAC, UPS, generator, and fire suppression, hosts IT equipment for other departments and tracks all data center hosted equipment.
