After consultation with the President, his Cabinet, and the Chair of the Faculty Senate, and in light of the imminent threat of additional phishing attacks, enrollment in Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be required for all faculty, staff, and student employees. Beginning June 14, 2016, MFA enforcement will be rolled out in a phased approach to appropriately safeguard your and the University’s data.

Instead of waiting for the MFA enforcement, you can enroll now at your convenience by visiting the CaneID Self-Service portal at caneid.miami.edu and clicking “Enroll in Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).”

Once MFA is enforced, for users that have not already enrolled, the next time they log in to a University single sign-on system (e.g., CaneID Self Service, myUM, Workday, Outlook Web App, etc.), they will be automatically routed to the MFA enrollment screen.
 
MFA is a tool that provides a second factor of authentication (e.g., a smartphone or landline) in addition to your CaneID username and password. Since hackers don't have physical access to these devices while attempting to compromise your account, your information is secure.

Due to a system update, the timekeeper system Kronos (timecard.miami.edu) will be undergoing maintenance from Monday, March 14 through Wednesday, March 16. During the maintenance period, Kronos time clocks may experience downtime for approximately 30 minutes from 9-11 a.m. and from 2-3 p.m. (each day). If the time clock is experiencing downtime when you attempt to clock in and/or out, the time clock will not register the punch. For example, SSL certificate issues may occur when trying to authenticate with UM Single Sign-On (UMSSO) and/or websites may produce an error or stop working. If you experience any SSL certificate errors during this time, please report the issue(s) to the UMIT Service Desk at (305) 284-6565 or itsupportcenter@miami.edu.
