This page serves as a resource for University of Miami users that require an elevated ID to access systems.
To align with security best practices for systems containing sensitive identity data, access to various IT portals—including the CaneID Management Portal, accessible while on a University of Miami campus or while connected to the University's VPN—require the use of elevated ID credentials (also known as privileged user accounts).
To request an elevated ID account, please submit your request through the online portal. Requests must be submitted by the individual account holder; submitting on behalf of someone else is not permitted.
To access and copy your elevated ID account password, please visit the online portal. Access to this portal is available for IT professionals with elevated IDs. To access the portal, you must be either on a University of Miami campus or connected to the University's VPN (it.miami.edu/vpn). If off-campus, once connected to the VPN, you'll be able to log in.
For more information, review the step-by-step instructional guide.
If you have questions or experience issues with your elevated ID account, please contact the IT Service Desk.
