The University of Miami (UM) provides various wireless and/or wired networks for the University community. Select your role below to access resources for U.
CaneNet Wireless is available for students only (including student employees). CaneNet Wireless is encrypted, making it safer to use devices, such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets. The CaneNet wired network is available in some Residential Colleges and the University Village. Ethernet ports provide fast and reliable internet connections for those students living in these residential communities. CaneGames is a hidden wireless network located in the Residential Colleges and the University Village only for the use of on-campus game consoles, Apple TVs, and various streaming devices that do not have an Ethernet port.

UMiamiWireless is a secure wireless network for University of Miami Coral Gables and Marine faculty and staff only. SecureCanes is a secure wireless network for University of Miami UHealth/MSOM faculty and staff only. The University of Miami's GlobalProtect virtual private network (VPN) allows users to securely access the University's private network from anywhere. Connecting to a VPN while working remotely protects sensitive information and is required when accessing certain University applications.

The CanesGuest wireless network is for guests, and it is an open (does not require a password), unsecured, and unencrypted network. The University of Miami's Academic Collaboration and Research Network (ACoRN) is designed to enhance collaboration and resource pooling amongst researchers. Important: Please keep in mind that research projects using human subjects research data and/or other categories of sensitive or protected data cannot use ACoRN. eduroam allows students, researchers, and staff from participating institutions to obtain internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop and connecting to the eduroam SSID.
